About this work
A watercolour centred on a terracotta votive tablet of the Buddha seated in meditation. Its warm rust and umber tones carry a sense of weight and age. Around it, fresh green fern fronds spread across loose washes of violet and blue that bleed into one another, as watercolour naturally does. The movement of the forest contrasts with the stillness at the centre, giving quiet form to the title: a calm that comes from within, even as the world around keeps changing.
