About this work

Jumping is a 50 × 60 cm acrylic on canvas painted in 2024 by Khun (Jakkaphan Deengam), a Bangkok street artist who has been making work in public spaces since 2022, and it shows a hefty walrus curled mid-leap, its pink beanie flying off, with a wide-eyed penguin clinging to its side, a fish drifting nearby and a vine of yellow flowers wrapped around its tail, above melting, dripping blocks of ice scattered across a sky-blue ground, a playful and energetic scene that quietly points to melting polar ice and a warming world where flowers bloom where they shouldn't, rendered with detailed realism and a street-art sense of humour.
