Toxic City is a 60 × 50 cm acrylic on canvas painted in 2024 by Khun (Jakkaphan Deengam), a Bangkok street artist who has been making work in public spaces since 2022, and it shows a giant, fluffy lavender-grey cat wearing a tiny red cap, gold hoop earrings and a hip tattoo, lounging with one leg raised in careless defiance amid yellow-and-black hazard tape, a leaking chemical barrel oozing green sludge and a crossed-out "DANGER" sign, set against the pale outlines of crumbling buildings on an olive-green ground, turning urban pollution and decay into a darkly funny scene that pairs finely rendered fur with a street-art attitude and invites viewers to laugh first before questioning the city they live in.
