About this work
Field Chiang Mai Thailand 2 (ทุ่งนาสันป่าตอง 2) is a 35 × 45 cm acrylic painting from 2015 by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism, and it shows fresh green rice fields in San Pa Tong district, Chiang Mai, stretching wide and banded by the dark shadows of earthen bunds, with two coconut palms rising above lush trees flecked with red and yellow blossoms on the left and a line of forest on the right leading to hazy blue hills on the horizon, beneath a pale blue sky tinged with soft pink, the light graded from the shaded foreground to the brighter distance to give the scene depth and capture the freshness of the northern Thai countryside on a clear day, a brighter companion to Field Chiang Mai Thailand 1
