About this work

Blue Power 2 (พลังสีน้ำเงิน 2) is a 120 × 100 cm acrylic painting by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism. It is an abstract composition of large, angular planes that spiral around a central pentagon, like petals unfolding or the magnified facets of a sapphire. Blue dominates the canvas, from vivid ultramarine and deep blue to pale sky blue where the planes catch the light, with dark navy recesses adding depth. Compared with Blue Power 1, this work uses larger, simpler planes, so the forms feel softer and more fluid, as if turning slowly. The smooth surface and precise gradations of light and shade make each plane look translucent, like glass or a gemstone. It captures the calm, depth and stability of blue
