About this work
Light Blue Power (พลังสีฟ้า) is a 100 × 120 cm acrylic painting from 2012 by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism. It is an abstract composition of countless angular facets that overlap and refract in a near-symmetrical arrangement around the centre of the canvas, like the facets of a diamond or an ice crystal seen from above. Sky blue dominates, ranging from bright azure and pale, almost white blue to deep blue and navy in the shadows. The contrast between bright planes and dark recesses gives the work a sparkle and depth like light reflecting inside a gemstone. Cooler, fresher and airier than the two Blue Power works, it belongs to the same series as Red Power, Green Power, Yellow Power, Orange Power and Purple Power.
