About this work
Landscape 2 (ทิวทัศน์ 2) is a 35 × 45 cm acrylic painting by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism, and it shows a corner of a park seen from beneath a large tree, its leaning trunk on the left spreading broad leaves in fresh green and pale yellow across the top of the picture, while a small blue-grey road curves through bright green lawn towards trees and shrubs in cool shade, with fallen leaves scattered across the sunlit grass in the foreground, the broad brushwork and strong contrast between bright sunlight and cool shadow, in the Impressionist tradition, capturing the shade, freshness and quiet of resting beneath a tree on a sunny day, a companion to Landscape 1 in the same size and leafy park atmosphere
