About this work

Mountain Chiang Mai Thailand 3 (ดอยสุเทพ 3) is a 60 × 80 cm acrylic painting by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism, and it shows a close view of the slopes of Doi Suthep, dense green forest filling the canvas, broken by bursts of bright yellow foliage and wildflowers in pink-violet, orange-red and creamy white scattered across the hillside, while the ridge above dissolves into mist and low blue-grey rain clouds that carry the damp feel of the rainy season in the mountains, the short, leaf-by-leaf brushstrokes, in the Impressionist tradition, giving the forest texture and a sense of movement as if stirred by the wind, the third and largest work in his Doi Suthep series, bringing the richness of Chiang Mai's mountain forests up close
