About this work
Orange Power (พลังสีส้ม) is a 100 × 120 cm acrylic painting from 2012 by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism. It is an abstract composition of countless angular facets swirling into a great circle at the centre of the canvas, like crystal or shattered glass bursting outward from a core. Vivid orange dominates, lit by flashes of golden yellow and set against dark, near-black recesses, while pale lilac-white planes curl and fold around the circle like paper or fabric unfurling. The contrast of warm and cool tones fills the work with movement and energy radiating from its centre. Part of the same series as Red Power, Green Power and Yellow Power, it captures the enthusiasm, warmth and creativity of orange.
