About this work

Psychic Power 2 (พลังจิต 2) is a 120 × 100 cm acrylic painting by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism. It shows a monumental human face in deep violet, lilac and rose-red, bowed slightly in quiet stillness, while a radiant orb of golden yellow and creamy white spirals out from the centre of the head like an inner power awakening. A fine grid of lines overlays the whole canvas like a net or cage, curving with the contours of the face, set against a cream-brown ground at the edges. Swirling brushwork and finely graded light make the skin look like living cloud or stone. Continuing the inner-world theme of Psychic Power 1, this work adds the grid as a symbol of boundaries or constraint, inviting viewers to ask how the power within can break through the frames that surround it.
