Sand and Sea (หาดทรายปึกเตียน) is a 60 × 80 cm acrylic painting from 2015 by Anuchat Thananchai, a Chiang Mai-born painter inspired by French Impressionism, and it shows Puek Tian Beach in Phetchaburi, with golden sand sweeping diagonally across the foreground, scattered with small shells and pebbles, and white-crested waves rolling in towards the shore as the sea shifts from pale blue at the water's edge to deep blue-green at the horizon, beneath a wide blue sky streaked with thin pink-white cloud and a line of small clouds just above the horizon, the horizontal brushwork catching the rhythm of the waves and the Impressionist play of light across the sand conveying the openness, calm and gentle sea breeze of the coast, revealing that the artist paints the sea as beautifully as the mountains of the north
