Kunakorn Wangkeeree

Emerging ArtistIn the early years of an artistic career, building a body of work and exhibition experience.

Biography

Kunakorn Wangkeeree, also known as “Eif,” is a contemporary painter from Loei Province, Thailand. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Loei Rajabhat University and later studied Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking at Silpakorn University. His artistic practice draws on the landscapes and ways of life of his hometown, particularly the connections among people, nature, local culture, spiritual beliefs, and childhood memories. Working primarily with oil on canvas, Kunakorn gradually builds up layers of paint to evoke the overlapping of past and present, reality and imagination. He brings together mountains, forests, animals, household objects, local traditions, and communal activities to form idealized landscapes that express nostalgia, abundance, and the transformation of his homeland. His paintings serve not merely as records of particular places, but as emotional spaces that invite viewers to reflect upon their own memories and their relationship with the natural world. Kunakorn has participated in regional and national exhibitions, including Humans and Areas, Intersection Point, Beyond the Horizon, and the 12th Asia Plus Art Contest Exhibition. He has also received support from the Tonkla Silp Thin Isan Scholarship, the Statesman Foundation’s Fund for Visual Arts Education and Creative Practice in honor of General Prem Tinsulanonda, and the Tiwa–Songsri Supanimit Education Fund.
